What happens at NIFT Situation Test?
For admission to B.Des programs at NIFT, candidates shortlisted from the written entrance examination are required to take a Situation Test which is a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability on a given situation with a given set of materials.Till 2019 NIFT has kept Situation Test for 2 hrs, but due to COVID-19, Situation test was cancelled in 2020 & 2021.
The model will be evaluated on space visualization, innovative and creative use of given material, composition of elements, colour scheme, construction skill, finesse of the model and overall presentation etc. These parameters will be checked with the write up explaining the concept behind the model constructed. The language of the write up has to be English.
The use of outside/additional material in making the model/design is not permitted. There is no interview for admission to B.Des program at NIFT.
What kind of questions are asked at NIFT Situation Test?
The question at NIFT Situation Test 2019 was-
Question: Design a 3D Model on Women Empowerment using given materials. Explain you work in less than 100 words.

What is the cut off for selection for NIFT Situation Test?
There is no fixed passing score for NIFT entrance exam. There is a cut off for marks over which candidates are shortlisted. Candidates are shortlisted for Situation Test or GDPI based on CAT / GAT score cut off. The cut off for marks for Written Exam are not published by NIFT. Every year, candidates equal to approximately 3 times the number of seats are selected for Situation Test or GDPI.
What is the cut off for final selection for NIFT Admission?
Each student receives who appears for the Situation Test receives a final merit score and rank (common rank & category rank) based on all tests. The admissions at NIFT are conducted through counselling at different NIFT campuses in order of ranks. The cut off for ranks which got admission in different NIFT Campuses for different Programs in given in Note 2 below.
When is the result for NIFT 2022 CAT & GAT paper expected?
The result of the NIFT 2022 for CAT & GAT paper (Written Exam) is expected to be declared by 9th March 2022. These are the important dates in the 2022 admission process of NIFT:
